The incident happened in Sanilac County, about 170 km northeast of Detroit, at about 2:35 a.m. on January 4, 2023. It was considered a single-vehicle crash, but it appears an SUV driver was udderly responsible for what happened.

The milk-hauling driver was southbound on a rural road when he spotted an SUV coming at him in the wrong lane. According to the local sheriff’s department, the sport-ute driver didn’t moove over, and the trucker had to swerve to avoid hitting the vehicle head-on. The truck subsequently rolled into the ditch and overturned. It’s estimated that about US$25,000 worth of milk was lost.

Not only was the truck creamed in the crash, but the wrong-whey SUV driver never stopped at the scene.

Bad puns aside, the good news is that the truck driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, and the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department reports that alcohol was not a factor in his losing control of the vehicle.

Apparently, that area of Michigan is fairly lactose-intolerant. Last May, another truck left 12,000 gallons of cow juice at the side of the road after rolling over in the ditch. But that one appeared to be the truck driver’s fault, after he tried to squeeze to the right around a Lincoln sport-ute that was making a left-hand turn, and clipped the vehicle as he did. There were only minor injuries in that one, and that’s no bull.
