Ram launches Lunar Edition for 1500 Rebel, TRX

You could say this paint-and-graphics dress-up trim appears once in a blue moon, but we think it's just a phase

The crew at Stellantis are rolling out another limited-edition trim for the TRX and TRX-Lite Rebel variants of the popular Ram 1500 pickup truck. Called the “Lunar Edition,” it joins other low-production specials such as the bright yellow Havoc trim from a few months ago.

As with most editions of this type, there are no changes to the truck’s powertrain, so we’ll get that out of the way first. For those who are not up to speed, the TRX belts out 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque from its 6.2L supercharged V8 engine when fed a steady diet of ground-up Priuses and the tears of David Suzuki.

Meanwhile, the Ram 1500 Rebel avails of the more sedate engine options on tap in the half-ton line, such as the stalwart 5.7L eTorque Hemi, which is a proven unit but is old enough to drive itself in most jurisdictions.

To get into a Ram 1500 TRX Lunar Edition, one will need to first check option boxes for the Level 2 Equipment Group, a $8,985 package which brings all manner of niceties such as a Harman/Kardon sound system, surround-view cameras, and heated-ventilated leather seats, just to name a few items.

Lunar trucks will get an exclusive Ceramic Grey exterior colour to go with unique TRX hood and bed graphics, 18-inch black bead-lock capable wheels, and a dual-pane panoramic moonroof sunroof. Also added to the interior are Surf Blue accent stitching, a leather and carbon-fibre flat–bottom steering wheel, plus the expected smattering of badges.

This is markedly like the Havoc trim, which currently adds $14,995 to the TRX bottom line; Ram says the Lunar is priced at $135,170 including destination.

Those wishing for a similar look but who are content with much less power (and price) can check out a Lunar Edition of the Ram 1500 Rebel. Like its burly brother, customers must first select the Level 2 Equipment Group before they can enjoy the Ceramic Grey paint, extra Rebel graphics, and 18-inch gloss black wheels.

Inside you’ll find the dandy 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen complete with off-road readouts, heated front seats, and a heated wheel. Prices start at $81,275 including destination.

Look for them to start appearing on dealer lots before the kids get out of school for the summer.
