If you want a three-row ride from Kia, you have options, but the best might be the 2023 Kia Telluride, which pairs cool style with a premium interior and rugged capability. The Kia SUV shares its platform and powertrain with the Hyundai Palisade, but the Telluride has a more rugged design. The 2023 model has a light redesign with a new grille, headlights and bumper. The cabin also gets a bit more high-tech with large displays for the driver and an updated infotainment system. There are also two new off-road oriented trim levels and a new tow rating of 5,500 lbs.
Powering all Kia Tellurides is a 3.8-litre V6 engine that’s carried over from last year's model. It makes 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. This motor is paired with an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel-drive. Fuel economy is rated at 12.8 L/100 km in the city, 9.8 L/100 km on the highway and a combined 11.4 L/100 km, which makes it slightly less efficient than its Palisade cousin, which gets 11.2 L/100km combined.
All three rows of seating in the Telluride boast generous dimensions, even the third row, which can accommodate adults in a pinch. With all three rows of seating in place, the Telluride features 601L of storage space. Fold those third-row seats down and that expands to 1,304L, while buyers will appreciate the 2,455L of space behind the first row of seats. If you’ll need to be towing, the X-Pro model can handle up to 5,500 lbs of weight, while the other models top out at 5,000 lbs.
The entry-level Telluride EX has an MSRP of $50,195 and includes navigation and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The SX model is an extra $5,000 at $55,195 and adds a dual sunroof and Harmon Kardon sound system. Upgrading from that to the SX Limited is another $4,000 as the SX Limited has an MSRP of $59,195 and gets a head-up display and Nappa leather seats. The X-Line costs $61,195 and includes a higher ground clearance, while the top-of-the-line X-Pro is $62,795 and gets all-terrain tires and a higher tow rating.
