The Mexican-built Rio 5-door is the hatchback version of the subcompact Rio sedan which has been discontinued in Canada. This fourth-generation five-door has an athletic stance, enhanced comfort, and confident driving manners. The Rio 5-Door is offered in five trim levels - LX MT, LX+, LX Premium, EX Premium, with the latter getting 17-inch alloys and rear disc brakes for 2023.
The Kia Rio 5-door is powered by a 1.6L four-cylinder that produces 120 hp and 113 lb-ft of torque. The car is still available with a six-speed manual transmission for the base LX trim — the other models feature a continuously variable transmission.
A heated steering wheel, heated front seats, air-conditioning and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the model lineup. The Rio 5-door has one of the most spacious cabins and one of the highest cargo capacities (493 litres) in its class.
The 2023 Kia Rio 5-door starts at $17,445 for the LX with six-speed manual, and stretches to the $22,995 EX Premium that gets push-button start, satellite radio, front collision mitigation and lane follow assist.
