2023 Jeep Cherokee

Slotted between the lighter-duty Compass and brawny Grand Cherokee, the 2022 Cherokee is offered in five trim levels, a reduction from the eight trims available for 2021. The front-wheel-drive model has been dropped. Otherwise, there are no mechanical changes to the 2022 models.

Performance

The base Sport model comes standard by the 180-hp 2.4L Tigershark four-cylinder. A 3.2L Pentastar V6 with 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque is available for the Sport and standard on all other trims. Optional the Limited is a 270-hp 2.0L turbo-four with 295 lb-ft of torque. All engines are hooked up to a nine-speed automatic.

Practicality

There’s a usable 781.5 litres of cargo space with the 60/40-split rear seats in their upright position. With both seats folded flat, luggage capacity increases to 1,549 litres. That’s not bad, but not as spacious when compared with the Cherokee’s primary competition. Those occupying the front seats won’t have much to complain about, with plenty of headroom and legroom, but the rear seat is not nearly so spacious and some will find it quite cramped. Although it is not large on the inside, it makes up for it with up to 2,041 kg (4500 lbs) of towing capacity and one of the most off-road capable models in the segment in Trailhawk guise.

Canadian Pricing and Value

The 2022 Cherokee is offered in five trim levels — Sport ($36,445), North ($41,845), Altitude ($43,245), Limited ($45,045) and Trailhawk Elite ($46,340). Heated front seats, seven-inch or 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreens, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers are part of a long list of standard features. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard features for Limited and Trailhawk models.
