The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe is a midsize crossover with enough space for five passengers and is available with several different powertrains. Like other 2023 Hyundai vehicles, the automaker has consolidated its lineups and the Hyundai Santa Fe arrives with one fewer trim level than before. As a result, the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe comes with a few more standard features, like rear sunshades, power-adjustable driver seats, and a larger infotainment screen. However, all those standard features come with a higher starting price.

Performance

You can get a gas, hybrid or plug-in hybrid version of the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe. Base models come with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that makes 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. These models are paired with an eight-speed automatic. Higher-trim models add a turbocharger to the equation, bumping output to 281 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. The more powerful model uses a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission.

The hybrid models swap out the 2.5-litre engine for a 1.6-litre turbo-four. In the standard hybrid, the powertrain makes a combined 226 hp, while the PHEV model puts out 260 hp. Both models pack 258 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid powertrains use a six-speed automatic. All models feature all-wheel-drive.

The non-turbo, non-hybrid models return 10.6 L/100 km in the city, 9.3 L/100 km on the highway and 10 L/100 km combined, while the turbocharged, non-hybrid model manages 11.0/8.5/9.9. The standard Hybrid model consumes fuel at a rate of 7.4 L/100 km combined, while the PHEV can travel 50 km on a full charge.

Practicality

The Santa Fe comes with plenty of standard safety assistance and driver aids, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring, driver attention warning and automatic high-beam headlights. You can even get a remote parking feature on top trim models that help the car get into crowded parking spots.

The Santa Fe is plenty practical, sporting 1,032 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats, which expands to 2,041 litres when you fold those seats down. The hybrid and PHEV models pack the same amount of space as the gas models.

The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe starts at $39,124 for the base Preferred trim model. The Urban trim adds the more powerful gas motor and costs $43,424, while the fully loaded Ultimate Calligraphy model will set you back $50,024. Hybrid models start at $46,624 and upgrading to the PHEV model is an extra $4,600.
