Those excited about electric vehicles may want to give the 2023 Hyundai Kona electric a spin. It packs a solid amount of range, features a solid powertrain with plenty of pep, and is all available for a reasonable price. Since the Kona electric was new for 2022, that automaker hasn’t significantly updated it for 2023.
The 2023 Kona electric features an electric motor with 201 hp and 290 lb-ft of torque, which powers the front wheels. The motor is powered by a 64 kWh battery, which allows for 415 km of range. Recharging that battery takes just over nine hours on a Level 2 charger, while a 100 kW Level 3 charger can do the trick in about 47 minutes.
Just like the gas-powered version of the 2023 Kona, the electric model features 544 litres of cargo room behind the rear seats, and you can fold those seats down to expand the cargo area to 1,296 litres. The Kona electric also offers several driver assistance and safety systems including adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
The 2023 Hyundai Kona electric starts at $46,324 for the Preferred trim, while the fully loaded Ultimate model is $51,424. Shoppers can spend up to $650 for different paint finishes.
