The 2023 Hyundai Venue is one of the most affordable crossovers available in Canada. Compact but cute, the Venue is loaded with personality, and a few fun features as well. While crossovers are known to be a bit more practical and capable compared to cars, the Venue might seem a bit limited, lacking an all-wheel-drive option, and having less passenger space than the compact Elantra sedan.
For 2023, the Venue arrives as a more streamlined offering, with fewer trim levels and option packages. It also receives a few small upgrades found within the cabin, including a larger information display.
Under the hood of the Venue is a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that makes 121 hp and 113 lb-ft of torque. That motor sends power to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission. All those components work together to deliver 7.9 L/100 km in city driving conditions, 6.9 lL100 km on the highway and 7.5 L/100 km combined.
It’s also important to note that the Venue comes standard with rear drum brakes, while the top-trim model upgrades to rear disc brakes.
This cute-ute is a bit on the small side, but still offers a decent amount of space for passengers and cargo. The 2023 Venue packs 2,602 litres of passenger volume, which is a bit behind some compact cars. The front seats are the most accommodating, and while you can try to fit three passengers in the rear seats, it might be a bit tight. However, behind the rear seats, the Venue offers 528 litres of cargo room, and if you fold those seats down, you get a maximum of 902 litres to store cargo.
The 2023 Hyundai Venue starts at $22,374 for the base Essential trim, which includes delivery and destination fees. The mid-trim Venue Preferred costs $24,174, while the fully-loaded Venue Ultimate is $26,674. Furthermore, shoppers can spend up to $550 on paint options, and there are several dealer-installed accessories available as well.
