Honda’s Ridgeline is unique in the midsize pickup segment, with its unibody construction and all-wheel (rather than four-wheel) drive. Having received a styling update for 2021, there have been no major updates since.
The Ridgeline is powered by a 280-hp, 3.5L V6 with 262 lb-ft of torque, fuel-saving variable cylinder management and idle-stop technology, and a 9-speed automatic transmission. Its standard all-wheel drive primarily powers the front wheels but can send up to 70 per cent of torque to the rear, and then as much as 100 per cent to left or right for better traction. An Intelligent Traction Management System lets you select between Snow, Sand, and Mud modes to help adapt to the driving conditions.
The Ridgeline has a 5-foot-3 bed, with a locking trunk under the bed floor. The two-way tailgate can be dropped down conventionally or opened sideways like a door, making it easier to reach cargo. The rear seats are on folding legs, so items can be easily slid in under them, or folded up to carry taller items. Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 lbs.
Available in four trim levels — Sport, EX-L, Touring and Black Edition — with pricing ranging from $47,435 to $56,435, the Ridgeline comes with plenty of standard features, including tri-zone automatic climate control, heated power seats, sunroof, and active safety technology.
