Lincoln’s mid-size luxury SUV is based on the Ford Edge, but it covers these humbler roots with classy sheet metal, fine interior appointments, and an adherence to a quiet and comfortable mission statement. This will be the Nautilus’ last year of production. Active suspension on 2.7L now only with 21-inch wheel package, and optional ultra-comfort seats move from 22-way to 16-way.
A turbocharged 250-hp 2.0L four cylinder comes standard, but those seeking more urge will opt for the optional 2.7L turbo V6 that, with 335 ponies and 380 lb-ft of torque, powers the Nautilus with ease. This Lincoln is no sportster, trading zippy handling for compliance, which in truth is what most buyers of a luxury crossover want.
Like the Ford Edge on which it is based, the Nautilus is roomy. Front seat comfort is good, and exceptional with the optional $1,900 22-way powered driver’s seat. It brags a large 13.2-inch touchscreen display and easy-to-use infotainment system. The powered tailgate opens to a deep and flat cargo bay that expands to 1,948L with the 60/40 rear seat folded. Towing capacity for the V6 model is 3,500 lbs when fitted with the Class II trailer towing package.
The 2023 Lincoln Reserve starts at $59,800 with the 2.0 turbo — add $4,000 for the 335-hp V6 upgrade. Options and packages can quickly escalate the bottom line to over $70,000, but that said, equipped at that level the Nautilus plays the luxury crossover card well.
