With all-new Chevrolet Silverado Heavy-Duty models debuting for 2024, the 2023 trucks are basically unchanged. While full specifications haven’t yet been announced for the new truck, we do know it’ll have improvements to its diesel engine, a new interior and several towing technologies.
The 2023 Chevrolet 3500 comes with a choice of a 6.6L V8 gasoline engine that makes 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque, available with E85 capability and with a six-speed automatic transmission; or a 6.6L Duramax V8 turbodiesel engine that makes 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque, with a ten-speed Allison automatic transmission. The diesel can be optioned with an integrated PTO (power take-off) to run external equipment such as salt spreaders. Both engines are available in 4x2 or 4x4 configuration.
The Silverado 3500 comes in Regular Cab with long bed (8-foot-1); Double Cab with long bed; and Crew Cab with standard (6-foot-8) or long bed. Commercial customers can also order it as a chassis cab. The Regular Cab, Double Cab and the Crew Cab with long bed can be optioned with dual rear wheels in 4x2 or 4x4.
The gasoline engine has a maximum payload of 7,442 lbs in 2WD and 7,145 lbs in 4WD, while the diesel engine is 6,523 and 6,296 lbs respectively. For conventional towing, the gas engine can tow up to 16,800 lbs, while a gooseneck trailer can be up to 20,000 lbs. With the diesel engine, you can tow a maximum of 17,200 lbs conventional and up to 36,000 lbs gooseneck. Available cameras can provide up to 15 views for trailering and parking.
All Silverado 3500 models come in WT (Work Truck) or LT trim, while the Crew Cab further comes in LTZ and High Country trims. In Regular Cab 2WD, pricing starts at $56,203 for gasoline and $69,888 in diesel. At the other end, the Crew Cab Long Box 4WD with dual rear wheels starts at $61,003 for gasoline and $74,688 for diesel. Available options include a snow plow package, emergency front braking, off-road package and dual alternators.
