Audi’s practical and polished three-row Q7 crossover gets kicked up the performance ladder with the “S” treatment. S tuned adaptive air suspension and V8 power meet to give this swanky hauler a real turn of speed and sharp handling. New kit for 2023 includes leather dashboard, leatherette console, and updated parking assist with remote function.
The SQ7's 4.0L bi-turbo V8 produces 500 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque from 3,000 rpm. Hitched to an eight-speed automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive, it launches the 2,340 kg SQ7 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Getting the most from this chassis requires the $7,500 Dynamic Package Plus (active roll stabilization and sport differential).
Available space in the SQ7 is comparable to most rival three-row crossovers. The 40/20/40 second row is roomy but the third row is best suited for children, and with this seat in place, there’s little cargo space behind. Power operation makes flipping down this rearmost row a cinch. With the $650 trailer hitch, this ute will pull up to 7,700 lbs.
The 2023 Audi SQ7 justifies its heady $110,400 starting price with a luxurious, tech-laden cabin and scintillating performance. Standard are 21-inch wheels, quilted leather, ventilated front seats, power door closers, Virtual Cockpit, head-up display and the full suite of safety systems and driver aids. Dip into the option list for massage, night vision, and 23-speaker B&O 3D audio.
