2023 Audi RS e-tron GT Overview
The 2023 Audi RS e-tron GT is the flagship electric car and one of the fastest vehicles the automaker offers. It can put some supercars to shame and requires no gas and emits no emissions. Packing silent confidence, the RS e-tron GT plays second fiddle to very few other EVs out there. It’s not only fast but gorgeous, with sleek lines and a luxurious, high-tech cabin. Additionally, the four-door is fairly practical, and can easily act as a family-friendly ride.
Performance
The highlight of the RS e-tron GT is its powertrain, which uses a pair of electric motors, with a maximum output of 637 horsepower. It wouldn’t be an Audi if it didn’t have all-wheel-drive, so fortunately the motors are placed at each axle to power all four wheels. That much power helps the RS e-tron GT go from zero to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, a rate that will take anyone’s breath away. Even more impressive, the RS e-tron GT features a two-speed gearbox, making it feel more confident and smooth at high speeds.
With its 95 kWh battery, the RS e-tron GT can travel 373 km before needing a recharge. That’s not as much as some other EVs out there, but it's still plenty for most commutes, and more. However, the big advantage of this Audi is that it can support 270 kW DC Fast Charging, allowing it to recharge from five to 80 per cent in just 22 minutes. That’s a huge upgrade over most other EVs, and one of the most important reasons to nab an RS e-tron GT. However, it’s important to note that Level 2 and Level 1 charging are significantly slower, requiring nine and a half hours and 41 hours, respectively.
Practicality
The RS e-tron GT features the same dimensions and interior space as the standard e-tron GT. It features four doors and seats for five, in addition to 350 litres of storage space in the trunk. The rear seats fold down in case you need to accommodate larger items, and there’s also a small front trunk that can accommodate briefcase-sized items or the portable charge cable.
Canadian Pricing
All that speed, performance and luxury comes at a cost, as the RS e-tron GT is nearly $50,000 more than the standard e-tron GT. Starting at $182,650, excluding the $2,700 freight and PDI fees. That pricetag is very similar to the Porsche Taycan Turbo, forcing shoppers to make a tough decision about which German EV they want to stash in their garage. The RS e-tron GT includes a ton of equipment though, including heated front and rear seats, three-zone climate control, navigation, an upgraded Bang and Olufsen sound system and a ton of safety equipment.
