2023 Audi RS7

Like its stablemate, the RS6 Avant wagon, the RS7 four-door hatchback is a blazingly fast vehicle that shares very little in the way of mechanicals or body panels with the lesser A7 and S7. Wide, low, aggressive and gorgeous, this very special Audi will be a rare sight.

Performance

Power comes from the Porsche-developed 4.0L “hot-vee” twin turbo V8 that makes its way into various Audis and Lamborghinis. Here it is tuned to a formidable 591 horsepower and 590 ft-lb of torque, all routed through an eight-speed ZF auto and rear-biased Quattro all-wheel-drive. Forward thrust is matched by a balanced and unerringly neutral chassis and a V8 soundtrack to die for. The 100 km/h benchmark blows by in 3.6 seconds.

Practicality

The RS7 is a hatchback, and a big one too, so indeed this swoopy five-door missile plays the practicality card well. Dial it back to Comfort mode and it’s also surprisingly compliant despite rolling on low-profile 22-inch performance rubber.

Canadian pricing

As with all RS-badged Audi’s, the 2023 RS7 Sportback comes from Audi’s special facility in Neckarsulm, Germany. Rarity and performance costs, and here the RS7’s opening sticker of $131,700 reflects its special place in the automotive universe.
