An alternative to the Q4 e-tron is the Sportback model, which has a swept-back profile to provide a sleeker overall look for the electric crossover. However, the Q4 e-tron Sportback is offered with only two trim levels, omitting a budget-friendly Komfort model found on the standard Q4 e-tron. Along with its stand-out style, the vehicle is loaded with equipment and has received a few software updates to improve the overall ownership experience.
The Q4 e-tron Sportback uses a pair of electric motors that provide the crossover with an all-wheel-drive. The two motors combine to provide 295 horsepower, which enables a zero to 100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds. That’s not bad, exceeding the output of the Mercedes-Benz GLB, but it’s below the output of the Genesis GV60.
There’s a large 82 kWh battery in the Q4 e-tron Sportback, which provides 389 km of range according to Natural Resources Canada. That’s a bit better than the standard Q4 e-tron which is rated for just 380 km. This EV also supports DC Fast Charging which allows the battery to recharge from five to 80 per cent in just 38 minutes. The charge rate was recently improved via an over-the-air update, and owners now have more charge options than before to customize their experience or preserve their battery’s lifespan. Buyers of the Q4 e-tron Sportback also get 1,400 kWh of complementary DC Fast Charging at Electrify Canada for four years.
The Sportback version of the Q4 e-tron is a tiny bit less practical than the standard model due to its sloping rear profile. Fortunately, it should be more than enough for most small families, and if you need more space, the rear seats will fold down so you can haul longer items.
At $67,600, the Q4 e-tron Sportback 50 Progressive is $7,650 more expensive than the base Q4 e-tron but better equipped. Comparing similar trim models, the Sportback is just $2,250 more than the standard-bodied Q4 e-tron. The top-trim, fully loaded version Q4 e-tron Sportback has an MSRP of $70,600 but gets all the high-tech goodies and driver aids.
