2023 Audi e-tron GT

One of the coolest electric cars on the market is the 2023 Audi e-tron GT, which made its debut during the blockbuster film Avengers: Endgame. This German-built EV shares its platform and more with Porsche Taycan, making it feel like a different class of car compared to the other all-electric Audis.

It packs speed, style, and space-age technology while an even more powerful model called the RS e-tron GT is also available for a premium. With plenty of range, speedy recharge rates and impressive performance, the e-tron GT is a flagship offering in the Audi range, and packs tons of features to prove it.

Performance

The e-tron GT uses a huge 93 kWh battery, and is rated to deliver a driving range of 383 km. If that sounds low, we’d bet on Audi being just a bit conservative, but its reassuring to know that the vehicle supports really fast recharge speeds of up to 270 kW. That would recharge the battery from five to 80 per cent in just 22 minutes, making it among the fastest recharging EVs on the market.

But you can deplete that range pretty quickly given the level of performance on tap here. An electric motor powers each axle, providing this car with a maximum of 522 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque, which is enough to take it from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. A rarity in the zero-emission game, the e-tron GT sports a two-speed transmission, helping it feel smoother at higher speeds. And if you want a bit of engagement, the e-tron GT features a unique soundtrack that plays to give you a sense of speed.

Practicality

As a sedan, you can’t expect the e-tron GT to pack as much cargo room as the other Audi SUVs or some of its rivals. You’ll find 350 litres of storage in the trunk, but the rear seats can fold down to accommodate longer items. A front trunk helps hide smaller items too, like a briefcase or duffle bag.

Feature-wise, the e-tron GT feels loaded, coming with heated seats, three-zone climate control, a panoramic roof, ambient lighting, navigation, a Bang and Olufsen sound system and the super cool Audi Virtual Cockpit plus digital gauge cluster.

Canadian Pricing

All that speed, luxury and style comes at a cost. There’s only one trim of the e-tron GT and it has a $133,950 price tag, excluding the $2,700 freight and PDI fees. While the car includes pretty much all the equipment you can think of including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance and automatic high beams, it unfortunately doesn’t qualify for some of the provincial or federal EV incentives. However, Audi is chipping in with four years of complementary charging at Electrify Canada stations, which helps people get better acquainted with the electric car lifestyle.
