2023 Audi A5

This sporty four-seat two-door comes in both Coupe and Cabriolet form and serves up the predictable Audi attributes of a well-crafted cabin, understated yet stylish exterior and spry handling. With nine exterior colours on the menu (we love District Green Metallic), Audi encourages visually spicing up these chunky two-doors. Now standard for 2023 are wireless phone charging and wireless function for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Performance

The A5 powers all four wheels with a 2.0L turbocharged four that, with some assistance from a 12-volt mild-hybrid system, generates 261 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. No manual is offered. With its standard sports suspension and 19-inch wheels the A5 is composed, confident and easy to drive fast, yet remains acceptably complaint on less than perfect surfaces.

Practicality

Two-door sport coupes and convertibles are inherently not practical conveyances, and both these A5s are billed as four-seaters. Nonetheless, the A5 Coupe has a useful if not huge 450L trunk with a folding 60/40 rear seat, while the convertible makes do with 263 L. The front cabin, while beautifully rendered, is short on useful storage.

Canadian Pricing

The 2023 Audi A5 Coupe is available in two trim levels – the $56,500 Progressiv and the $60,400 Technik – and both are comprehensively equipped with most safety and driver aids as standard. You’ll pay extra for adaptive cruise control and semi-autonomous driving. Add a hefty $11,000 to enjoy top-down motoring in either trim level.
