Honda recalls over 340,000 vehicles over mirror issue

The side mirrors are liable to fall off, as the pads for heating the mirrors may not be bonded properly

Honda is recalling over 330,000 vehicles in the U.S. and another 12,916 in Canada. The recall is being issued due to the side-view mirror potentially falling off, which could increase the risk of a crash.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the side mirrors don’t meet the rear visibility requirements, as the heating pads behind both side-view mirrors – used to warm up the mirrors and clear them of snow – may not be bonded properly.

Owners are expected to be notified at the beginning of May and will be asked to take their vehicles to a Honda dealership where the affected side-view mirrors will be replaced free of charge.

You can also check online at Transport Canada, using your VIN, to see if your vehicle is affected. Transport Canada’s number for the Honda recall is 2023-136, while the manufacturer’s recall number is HP38. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) campaign number for the recall is 23V174000.
