North Americans have been waiting for a Ford Ranger of their own – not one introduced abroad and then imported here – since November of 2021, and now that wait is finally over. When it comes to the next-gen Ranger’s reveal, the Blue Oval has circled May 10 on its calendar, teasing the vehicle on its social media this weekend. The video clip shows a silhouetted Ranger cruising the desert dunes, and features the sound of the V6 engine. Ford has given the all-new Ranger a fresh tagline, “Adventure favours the prepared,” which can be heard in the quick 15-second spot.

In North America, the 2024 midsize pickup will likely get the EcoBoost 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine—and there won’t be a diesel option. Still, from what we’ve gathered, we will have access to both the new Ranger and an off-road Ranger Raptor, so that’s something.

But it’s not just Ford coming in hot with its latest pickup offering either. In true spring fashion, there are in fact a handful of new truck releases, including Ram, which has also been teasing its own launch coinciding on the exact same day, May 10.
Ram uploaded an even shorter video than Ford’s to its Facebook page (just nine seconds long), which depicts a dusty terrain followed by some headlights gleaming through the dust. There aren’t any other clues that suggest what exactly Ram plans to launch, just a white font that takes over the screen and reads, “A new force is landing.” Ram uploaded that teaser on May 4, a.k.a. #MayTheFourth, the unofficial Star Wars’ day of celebration.
The Internet had a lot to say in response to the double-header announcements. Ram fans have been dreaming about what the company’s announcement could be about—perhaps something that can go head-to-head with the Bronco?
